Q. How long will it take to change my accounting flexfield?
A. Changing to a new Chart of Accounts is usually done over a weekend.

Q. What are alternatives to using FlexField software?
A. Oracle Applications® allows you to define new flexfields in a new set of books. However, it only consolidates the General Ledger entries. Subledger information, such as Payables, Receivables, Inventory, etc., still needs to be manually reconciled to the new set of books. Caution: If you use this option, your subledger transactions will reference the old Chart of Accounts. Another option is to go through an expensive, labor-intensive reimplementation that could risk losing your history and damaging the integrity of your data.
